It wasn’t pretty, but it didn’t have to be.
Charlotte Williams assisted Frannie Crouse for a in the seventh minute and the Penn State women’s soccer team held on from there to top perennial powerhouse North Carolina, 1-0
The Tar Heels out-possessed the Nittany Lions significantly and forced a number of mistakes, but Penn State was sound defensively and held UNC to just two shots on goal in the victory.
The match was Penn State’s third of four against top-eight ranked opponents after downing BYU 3-1 and falling to West Virginia 2-1. Next time out they’ll take on No. 8 Virginia in Charlottesville.
Standout Performer: Crouse was fantastic for the Nittany Lions on Thursday night. The senior had limited time and space yet made it count for a goal while also providing excellent holdup play against the UNC back three.
