2018 Former Foes

Appalachian State Mountaineers

Last Seen: Showing the world of Tuesday Night Football that these here Mountaineers are just as fo real as them Morgantown folk. That is to say, wiping the smirk off the Arkansas State Red Wolf, 35-9.

My man went from:

to:

Or something.

Zac Thomas had another normal Zac Thomas game, with 3 total touchdowns, but this time, on a Tuesday, the nation noticed.

Next Up: Saturday, October 20, hosting the Louisiana Ragin Cajuns, 3:30p, on ESPN+

2018 Record: 4-1.

Pitt Panthers

Last Seen: Winning again, this time against a good-looking Syracuse squad that nearly took out Clemson, 44-37, in OT.

Qadree Ollison ran 24 times for 192 yards and a touchdown, and Darrin Hall added a rushing touchdown in the 4th quarter and the game winner in overtime. It was over when Therran Coleman picked off Cuse QB Eric Dungey in the end zone in overtime.

Next Up: Saturday vs Notre Dame, in the shadow of Touchdown Jesus, 2:30p on NBC. Go Fighting Duzzi’s!

2018 Record: 3-3.

Kent State Golden Flashes

Last Seen: Trying to make Penn State feel better, I guess, by losing 27-26 to the Ohio Bobcats at home.

On the first play from scrimmage, Woody Barrett threw a 75-yard touchdown pass to Isaiah McKoy, and Kent State led from then, until Ohio scored a touchdown with 1:28 left in the game.

Heartbreaker.

Next Up: Saturday, at Miami, OH, 2:30p, on ESPN+.

2018 Record: 1-5.

Illinois Fighting Illini

Last Seen: Defeating Rutgers at High Point Solutions Stadium in Piscataway, NJ, 38-17, in an otherwise statistically pretty even game.

Illinois had 419 yards of offense, Rutgers had 386. Rutgers had 25 first downs, to Illinois’ 17.

Turnovers were the ultimate difference, as Scarlet Knight QB Artur Sitkowski threw 3 interceptions, while Illini quarterback AJ Bush scored 3 touchdowns and threw none.

Next Up: Saturday, hosting 3-2 Purdue, 3:30p, on FS1.

2018 Record: 3-2.

Ohio State Buckeyes

Last Seen: Saturday, coming from behind, twice, to outlast Indiana at home, 49-26.

Buckeye QB Dwayne Haskins threw 6 TDs earning the Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week, without dispute this week.

Next Up: Saturday, hosting Minnesota, 12p, on FS1.

2018 Record: 6-0.

Former Bros

Mississippi State Bulldogs

Former Penn State Assistant and all-around likeable bro, Joe Moorhead, is now the Head Coach at MSU. We’ll follow his progress here this season too.

Last Seen: Saturday, ruining Auburn’s fleeting playoff hopes, 23-9.

The big story in this offensive turnaround from last week’s paltry output was Nick Fitzgerald running the ball. JoeMo unleashed him on the keepers 28 times (a career high), and it resulted in 195 yards.

Quipped our bro: “I took my coaching pills this week. I forgot them the past two weeks.”

Defensively, the ferocious Bulldog D-line continued to terrorize.

Next Up: October 20 (after a bye week this week), at #13 LSU, 7p, on ESPN.

2018 Record: 4-2.

2017 Former Joes

Akron or Pitt? You decide!

Akron Zips

Last Seen: Saturday, getting dominated by Miami, OH, 41-17.

Next Up: Saturday, at the Buffalo Bulls, 12p, on CBSS.

2018 Record: 2-2.
