Talented Penn State forward Mike Watkins just can’t seem to get out of his own way off the court.
BREAKING: Penn State forward Mike Watkins faces disorderly conduct charge https://t.co/zlVkUnFe5c
— The Daily Collegian (@DailyCollegian) October 16, 2018
According to a report from The Daily Collegian, Watkins was cited for disorderly conduct on Sept. 29 for fighting,
This is his second run-in with Centre County law enforcement in this offseason alone after being cited for possession of drug paraphernalia in June following a search of his apartment for possession of an unregistered firearm. No firearm was found, however.
Watkins, the team’s best defender an All-Big Ten caliber forward, was also barred from attending the team’s 2017 trip to the Bahamas following a disorderly summary charge and in 2016 he was charged with criminal mischief as well as disorderly conduct.
He was also forced to take a redshirt year as a true freshman after academic eligibility issues.
To this point, Pat Chambers and the program have been patient with Watkins. Though there’s no word on how this latest incident will be handled.
Penn State’s media day is set for later this afternoon and surely the charge will be a subject of discussion.
