Commits In Action: Devyn Ford Scores Twice, Lance Dixon Scores Game Winning TD, & More

Led by running back Devyn Ford, the North Stafford (VA) Wolverines improved to 6-1 on the season with a 49-0 blowout victory on Friday night. Ford rushed for 49 yards and a pair of touchdowns and caught three passes for 19 yards while only playing a half.

Future Nittany Lion linebacker Lance Dixon has been a heat seeking missile on defense for the West Bloomfield (MI) Lakers this season. He has also played a large role on the Laker offense, and that continued on Friday night when he scored the game winning touchdown for the now 7-2 Lakers.

Despite suffering his team suffering their first loss of the season, wide receiver Emery Simmons had another strong game for the South View (NC) Tigers. Simmons caught four passes for 98 yards and a touchdown.

Quarterback Taquan Roberson went 15/38 for 268 yards and 3 touchdowns in a 59-28 loss for the DePaul Catholic (NJ) Spartans. He also rushed for 13 yards.

Michael Johnson Jr. had a better go of things on Friday night than Roberson did. In a 49-7 victory for the Sheldon (OR) Irish, Johnson Jr. was 9/11 for 200 yards and a pair of touchdowns through the air and he added 64 yards and a touchdown with his legs.

In a 49-14 State College High beat down of Altoona, Keaton Ellis rushed for 69 yards to go with 56 yards receiving. Uncharacteristically, Ellis was kept out of the end zone by the Mountain Lion defense.

Over in Pittsburgh, Joey Porter Jr. had five tackles and a pass breakup for the North Allegheny Tigers. He also had a reception for 7 yards in their 26-20 victory over rival West Allegheny.

Tight end Brenton Strange was held in check offensively in a 38-14 victory for the Parkersburg (WV) Big Red. Strange had just one reception, however, it was for a touchdown. He also had a big defensive game with five total tackles, 1.5 tackles for a loss, and a sack.

On the JUCO circuit, the Lackawanna Falcons improved to 8-0 on the season by routing Hocking College 62-6. The blocking of offensive lineman Anthony Whigan helped pave the way for 407 rushing yards, 637 yards of total offense, and 32 first downs for the Falcons. Safety Jaquan Brisker was the Falcons’ primary punt returner and averaged 23 yards per return.
