Penn State Opens As Big Underdogs Against Michigan

Oddsmakers do not have much faith in the Nittany Lions as they head to the Big House this weekend.

Following a 30-24 over the Iowa Hawkeyes in a battle of two top 20 teams, the Penn State Nittany Lions are now 6-2 this season. Next up for Penn State is a trip to the Big House to do battle with the 7-1 Michigan Wolverines.

The early betting lines for next weekend are out, and Penn State will open as a big underdog against the No. 5 Wolverines. When No. 14 Penn State travels to Ann Arbor, it will do so as 11.5-point underdogs.

It is not a surprise to see Penn State as the underdog for Saturday’s match up. However, it is a bit of a surprise to see the line be this large. After all, Michigan’s offense still has plenty of question marks, and the Nittany Lions are a top 15 team after all.

Michigan will be looking for revenge on Saturday after being crushed at Beaver Stadium last year. As Michigan’s defensive coordinator Don Brown said earlier this week, he has thought about the 42-13 defeat every single day since then.

As for Penn State, it will be looking for its third consecutive victory after dropping two games in a row. Furthermore, James Franklin’s team will be looking to keep its quest for a third consecutive regular season with 10 wins and third consecutive New Year’s Six Bowl bid alive.

Kickoff for Saturday is scheduled for 3:45 p.m. on ABC.
