Seems like just yesterday Appalachian State was headed to Happy Valley to start the season. But here we are in the final weekend of football. The Game will decide who represents the East against Northwestern, but there are plenty of other interesting match ups as well. Read on, make your own picks, and see if you know better than the masthead!
Nebraska (4-7, 3-5) at Iowa (7-4, 4-4)
Iowa City, IA
Friday, November 23rd, 12:00 PM
Line: IOWA -7.5
FARMAGEDDON! So somehow or other, Nebraska has inched its way closer and closer to bowl eligibility. The Cornhuskers are not new to the idea of making a bowl at 5-7, accomplishing the feat in just 2015. Still, Iowa has been solid this year, and it’s in Kinnick. Give me the Hawkeyes to win, but not to cover.
Iowa 35, Nebraska 28
#4 Michigan (10-1, 8-0) at #10 Ohio State (10-1, 7-1)
Columbus, OH
Saturday, November 24th, 12:00 PM
Line: MICH -4
The Game is here! Winner will head to the Big Ten Championship Game, and a possible shot at the playoffs. It feels like if Michigan were ever to beat Ohio State, it would have to be this year, no? Give me the Wolverines to win, and cover.
Michigan 35, Ohio State 24
Purdue (5-6, 4-4) at Indiana (5-6, 2-6)
Bloomington, IN
Saturday, November 24th, 12:00 PM
Line: PUR -4
Am I hallucinating, or did these two teams enter the final week of the regular season last year, each needing a win to get to bowl eligibility? I’m not! That’s exactly what happened, with the Boilermakers getting the win. Sorry Hoosiers, but things don’t look quite very good this year either.
Purdue 28, Indiana 21
Illinois (4-7, 2-6) at #19 Northwestern (7-4, 7-1)
Evanston, IL
Saturday, November 24th, 3:30 PM
Line: NW -18
On one hand, Northwestern can just coast to the Big Ten Championship Game. On the other, this is college football, and overall rankings mean a lot come bowl season. Wildcats win in a romp.
Northwestern 42, Illinois 14
Minnesota (5-6, 4-4) at Wisconsin (7-4, 5-3)
Madison, WI
Saturday, November 24th, 3:30 PM
Line: WIS -10
Similarly, the Badgers want to improve their standing as much as possible. While Minnesota is playing for bowl eligibility, I just can’t see Wisconsin taking its foot off the gas. Badgers for the win.
Wisconsin 35, Minnesota 17
Rutgers (1-10, 0-8) at Michigan State (6-5, 4-4)
East Lansin, MI
Saturday, November 24th, 4:00 PM
Line: MSU -27.5
The suffering is almost at an end for Rutgers. Soon, the long peaceful off-season, accompanied by a sweet winter slumber. Rest now, Scarlet Knights, your watch is at an end.
Michigan State 42, Rutgers 14
BSD Challenge
Entering the final week of the season, we are neck and neck. Check out the standings below:
I hold a slim one-game lead over Dlando, the only two writers over .500 on the year. Who will take home the crown? One week left to find out!
For this week, check out the staff’s picks below. For the record, the line used for the Penn State-Rutgers game was PSU -13.5. The masthead was unanimous for just one game:
- Purdue -4 over Indiana
That leaves six games up for grabs:
The majority of the masthead like Iowa over Nebraska, while only Tim thinks the Buckeyes will stay within 4 points of Michigan. The staff was almost unanimous in thinking that Maryland will hang out with Penn State - only Dena thinks the Nittany Lions will cover.
Aaron is the sole taker for the Fighting Illini, and he’s also on board the Minnesota train. Lastly, most of the writers like Michigan State to win by four touchdowns over Rutgers, a feat Penn State could not accomplish.
What do you think, dear reader? Who ya got in week thirteen?
