Oh, Hello: Three-Star OT Grant Toutant Commits To Penn State

Penn State is finally on the board in the 2020 recruiting cycle

Height/Weight: 6-foot-6, 280 pounds

Hometown/High School: Warren, MI (De La Salle Collegiate)

Ranking: ★★★ (0.8800 247Sports)

Notable Offers: Duke, Indiana, Pitt, and Wisconsin

The Tale

James Franklin, Matt Limegrover and the Nittany Lion coaching staff extended a scholarship offer to Grant Toutant on October 17th. The Michigan native would quickly turnaround and visit Happy Valley for Penn State’s 30-24 victory over Iowa ten days later.

Toutant has a big athletic build. In fact, he does gymnastics to help with his athleticism and flexibility. Flexibility can often times be an issue for taller offensive linemen, so it is great to see Toutant going above and beyond to address this potential issue.

A 6-foot-6, 280 pound base is a darn good one for an offensive tackle to have. As Toutant’s body continues to mature, he should easily be able to support a 300+ pound frame.

At this point Toutant is a raw talent. He is, however, a physical player that is not afraid to finish his blocks. A combination of his size and physicality is one that offensive line coaches love. Toutant is an impressive piece of mold for Coach Limegrover to have to work with.
