The 2018-19 season continued to be very on brand for Penn State basketball on Friday morning.

Penn State Athletics sent out a press release announcing that center Satchel Pierce, who had been ruled ineligible for the fall semester, has decided to withdraw from the university and will not return in January.

Pierce was expected to be the backup center behind Mike Watkins, who has also missed time this season due to a suspension.

Pierce played just 7.2 minutes per game in 24 games last season after transferring from Virginia Tech.

The Nittany Lions sit at 5-4 on the season with their next game coming against NC State at 2 p.m. Saturday at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City.
