For me, the stretch between December 24th and January 1st is the most wonderful time of the year. Sure, there are the holidays themselves - having grown up Catholic, Christmas will always hold a special place in my heart, and New Year’s is a chance to reflect on the past year and look forward to the new one. Not to mention Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, and a whole host of other holidays in December and January.
I always take advantage of the slew of holidays by taking a full on winter break. This year, including weekends, that break will stretch from Saturday, December 22nd, all the way to Tuesday, January 1st, 11 days off in a row. No emails, no phone calls. Just hanging out at home with my family. (Truth be told, that’s why this edition of Midweek Musings is a day late - I totally forgot what day it was!)
Of course, this time of year also brings parties and get-togethers. Whether that’s for the holidays themselves, or because everyone just so happens to be in town again, or to watch some post season football. There are many reasons to make merry right about now.
So for me, this time of year is the most wonderful of all. If I haven’t already done so, let me just say that BSD is my online home away from home. The writers and commenters here make this website as amazing as it is, and I truly wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for all of you.
So, cheers, y’all! Let’s enjoy this time together, and before you know it we’ll be counting down to the 2019 season. Prost!
