With a road trip to Virginia Tech already on the slate, Penn State had two vacancies remaining for non-conference opponent scheduling for the 2020 football season. According to Penn State Athletics, both those vacancies have been filled with a home dates against San Jose State (Sept. 19, 2020) and Nevada (Sept. 5, 2020) now officially on the docket.

The Nittany Lions also began to fill out their 2024 out-of-conference slate, adding a home matchup with Bowling Green to take place on Sept. 7, 2024. Penn State will also have a non-conference road trip that season, as the Nittany Lions are scheduled to finish up their one-and-one with West Virginia in Morgantown that year.
