Buffalo Bulls Bombarded by Bombastic Nittany Lions

Wham, bam, thank you ma’am. Nittany Lions whip up on Bulls.

Howdy!

We’re going to keep this recap short, much like Penn State did with its dual against Buffalo on Saturday at Rec Hall.

The Nittany Lions welcomed the Bulls for senior night and what would turn out to be an historic performance.

The two matchups that were most exciting headed into the weekend didn’t happen, as Buffalo didn’t send out Kyle Akins or Brian Lantry at 125 and 133. The Bulls forfeited at 125 and sent out the backup at 133 instead of Lantry.

Corey Keener dispatched of said backup via decision before Nick Lee and Zain Retherford had the first two of what would become seven victories by fall.

At 157, Bo Pipher made yet another appearance and dispatched of some kid whose last name is another word for donut and came out with yet another pin, sending the crowd into a frenzy.

Up at 165, Vincenzo Joseph rolled out to a 10-3 lead before doing something dumb again and putting himself on his back. This time, our little meatball had built enough of a lead that it didn’t matter and came out with a win via major decision.

Mark Hall nearly popped a guy’s head clean off with a violent lefty headlock in order to pick up the fall under a minute at 174.

Bo Nickal, never one to be outdone, stepped off the mat and then quickly exited stage left with a pin in 11 seconds, which is about a third of the time it took me to type this graf.

Sugar Shakur Rasheed did Shakur Rasheed things, cradling and pinning Buffalo’s Joe Ariola in the first period.

And finally, at heavyweight the Bulls sent out yet another backup rather than PA boy Andrew Gunning and Nick Nevills squashed that poor backups soul, earning the pin and giving Penn State the 55-0 shutout and a new program record for dual points scored.

Outstanding Wrestler: Little Bo P, who was rewarded with an awesome moment for filling in admirably for the cyborg that is Jason Nolf.
