MMQB: Will Penn State Wrestling Win its Third Consecutive National Championship?

Will Penn State three-peat?

NCAA Wrestling: Division I Wrestling Championship Jeff Curry-USA TODAY Sports

Under legendary wrestler and coach Cael Sanderson, Penn State won its first national title in nearly 60 years in 2011.

Since then, Sanderson has led the Nittany Lions to national championships in a mind-boggling six of seven years. The only squad to get in their way during that amazing run? The Ohio State Buckeyes, who bested Penn State to take home the title in 2015. The Buckeyes also took down the Nittany Lions last week to claim the Big Ten Championship in what essentially came down to a two-team battle for the top prize.

Now Penn State gets its shot at revenge, as they prepare for the 2018 NCAA Wrestling National Championships in Cleveland, beginning Thursday morning.

Will Penn State Wrestling claim another national championship? Will they be able to topple the injury bug and take down Ohio State, along with the rest of the field? What is Penn State’s best path to continuing its dynasty with its seventh national title since 2011?
