Gettin’ Paid Here’s some news that won’t come as a surprise to anyone who followed Allen Robinson’s career at Penn State- the superstar wide receiver is set to be the highest-paid former Nittany Lion by the NFL after signing with the Chicago Bears as a free agent. Robinson has proven to be one of the top wideouts at the next level, and was highly sought-after despite missing most of the 2017 season with a torn ACL. Get prepared to enjoy plays like this, Bears fans.
Movin’ On The legendary Paul Posluszny wasn’t the only former Penn Stater to hang up his cleats this week. Adam Breneman decided to move on from the game he loves and not pursue a career in the NFL in a touching open letter. Breneman found success at UMASS after transferring from Penn State, accumulating 134 receptions for 1,572 yards and 12 touchdowns during the last two seasons with the Minutemen. Tamba Hali may also be considering retirement after being released by the Chiefs, but perhaps he can do this in another city next season.
Snubbed Michigan basketball coach John Beilein and Ohio State coach Chris Holtmann both agreed that Penn State and Nebraska earned a place in the NCAA Tournament. It’s not much of a consolation prize, but it’s nice to see some Big Ten unity. Perhaps they should have made it ahead of Syracuse?
All Aboard! The Coaches Caravan is returning for another year as Penn State coaches from various teams will spend time meeting and greeting fans. Just hope you’re in or near one of the three cities on the list for this year.
Who’s #1? The buzz is continuing to build that the Browns won’t be able to pass on Saquon Barkley with the top pick in the draft. Although, the Browns have a dismal track record with recent first round picks. Wherever he plays on Sundays, one lucky NFL offense should be completely transformed...and their fans will get to watch plays like this.
Next Man Up Penn State has some serious talent in the pipeline just waiting for an opportunity to show what they can do on the gridiron. Defensive tackle Damion Barber will be looking to shore up the interior after the departures of starters Parker Cothren and Curtis Cothran, and linebacker Ellis Brooks could be eyeing the starting middle linebacker spot, which would allow Micah Parsons to slide to the outside.
