We’ve got ourselves a team race, ladies and gents

NCAA Wrestling: DI Wrestling Championships Aaron Doster-USA TODAY Sports

Penn State entered Saturday morning’s session of the 2018 NCAA Tournament with a slight lead over arch nemesis Ohio State.

Entering Saturday night’s sixth and final session, those roles have been reversed.

Ohio State started the day with six wrestlers in the consolation semifinals, while Penn State just had one and an additional two wrestlers in the seventh-place matches.

The Buckeyes finished the session with two third-place finishers, two fourth-place finishes, one fifth-place finish and one sixth-place finish. They also picked up four bonus points in the session.

Nick Lee got the action underway for Penn State, falling to Jaydin Eierman in the consolation semis but battling back for fifth with an exhilarating 9-7 victory in overtime over Kevin Jack of NCState.

At 197 pounds, Shakur Rasheed picked up an important 11-3 major decision victory over Willie Miklus of Mizzou to take seventh.

Nick Nevills, battling through a shoulder injury, gutted out a 7-5 decision over Youssif Hemida of UMD to take seventh.

The Nittany Lions trail the Buckeyes 130.5-124.5, but will have five wrestlers going tonight compared to OSU’s two, including a pair of wrestlers squaring off with one another as Bo Nickal of Penn State meets Myles Martin of Ohio State.
