Blowing Away the Competition The Cleveland Browns are once again owners of the #1 pick, and seem to have their sights on taking another swing at finally landing a franchise quarterback. But can they really pass on Saquon Barkley? They have to at least strongly consider it. They would be stupid not to, right? Barkley is clearly the best running back in this class, but also perhaps the best prospect in the past decade or so.
The Next Gronk? Barkley wasn’t the only Nittany Lion to amaze at the Combine. Tight end Mike Gesicki basically owned the whole darn thing, putting up incredible numbers that ranked first among all tight ends in seven of eight categories. The only one he didn’t come out at top was the bench press, which he placed second with 22 reps of 225 lbs. According to his SPARQ score, Gesicki is head and shoulders above any other tight end prospect in this class. Let’s not forget about safety Troy Apke, who had a tremendous Combine performance that surprised many, most notably Neon Deion. While he won’t be the first safety selected, his own SPARQ score says otherwise.
New York, New York The Big Ten ended its season early just to hold the conference tournament in Madison Square Garden, which is quite the hike for most of the programs and their fans. It’s no surprise pretty much everyone hated it. At least we got to watch Tony Carr put on a show...and the NBA took notice.
FLAVA FLAV!!! Penn State has enjoyed attention from some celebrity fans in recent years, but none tops Flavor Flav supporting the Nittany Lions. The Public Enemy icon shares a special bond with senior Shep Garner, who will look to help carry the team to postseason success later this month.
Ch-Ch-Ch-Ch-Changes Wrestling savant and all-around badass Cael Sanderson suggested the program could be in for some changes in regards to future home dual meets. But first, they will attempt to best the Buckeyes and win another national championship.
Beer Money Need another reason to love Penn State? They are working to make your favorite beers taste even better. True heros indeed.
