Mike Gesicki Drafted No. 42 by Miami Dolphins

Mike Gesicki is heading to Miami as the Dolphins selected him with the 42nd pick in the second round of the NFL Draft.

After early struggles in his Penn State career, Gesicki became one of the most dangerous pass-catching threats in the country regardless of position.

The New Jersey native then went to the NFL combine and confirmed his freak status, posting a 41.5-inch vertical and a 4.54 40-yard dash at 6-6, 246 pounds. While Gesicki’s blocking has always left much to be desired, there’s no questioning how big a threat he is as a pass catcher, particularly in the red zone.

With the NFL shifting more and more toward a pass-heavy league, Gesicki should cause matchup nightmares for opposing defenses. He’s shown the ability to outrun most linebackers and his size is often too much for opposing defensive backs.

Congratulations, Mike!
