HIGHLIGHTS
THE TALE
Hailing from Gateway High School in Monroeville where Terry Smith is a borderline diety, Jaquan Brisker has long been high on Penn State. His interest in the Nittany Lions only grew during his time at Lackawanna Community College.
His senior year of high school, Brisker made a name for himself at Penn State’s 7-on-7 summer camp ($), but academic concerns led to him to Lackawanna C.C. Despite Brisker going the JUCO route, James Franklin and his staff never forgot about him. This, combined with his impressive play on the field for the Lackawanna Falcons last fall, made him one of the top defensive targets this cycle for the Nittany Lions.
Brisker, who has three years to play two, made the call for Penn State late Thursday night. Brisker had been on campus a few times in recent months, and with the dominoes about to fall at safety for Penn State, he wanted to cement his spot in the class.
OUTLOOK
While Brisker has played solely safety at Lackawanna, he has the size at 6-foot-2, 197 pounds to grow into a “STAR” linebacker, and looks the part of someone who could thrive at either position. Brisker owns the speed and athleticism needed to play safety, while also possessing the physicality of a linebacker. He is both a ball hawk and a heat-seeking missile on the field.
Being a JUCO player, Brisker will enroll at Penn State this January and be ready to contribute immediately in 2019. While the role he will play may be up in the air, you can expect to see Brisker on the field in some capacity for the Nittany Lion defense in 2019.
Welcome to Penn State, Jaquan!
