CBS Sports’ college hoops writer Jon Rothstein, he of “This Is March” Twitter fame, went on a tweet storm earlier this evening, announcing all of the reported match-ups for this year’s upcoming Big Ten-ACC Challenge. This of course, includes Penn State’s opponent, which reportedly will be a home date with Virginia Tech.
Penn State will host Virginia Tech in the 2018 ACC/Big Ten Challenge, per a source.

While neither school has officially confirmed the scheduling of this game, this is a huge scheduling win for Pat Chambers’ crew. The Nittany Lions will play host to a team coming off back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances and returning three of their five starters from last season, as well as their top five contributors according to KenPom. Without a doubt, this will be a good challenge and a great chance for an early quality win for a veteran PSU squad that will be seeking to earn a bid to the Big Dance next season.
We now know of at least four of Penn State’s non-conference games at this point, given the confirmation of the Nittany Lions’ road trip to DePaul for the Gavitt Games, as well as their two games in the Cancun Challenge on Thanksgiving week. Typically, it is around the end of July/sometime in August that the full extent of the non-conference slate is known, so expect to see periodic developments like this over the next couple of months as we enter Summer.
