We’re getting closer!

Road grader, behemoth, and designated lifter of touchdown scorers.

That’s right, it’s Steven Gonzalez’s day as we’re just 74 days away from the start of the Penn State football season.

Gonzalez was a four-star recruit in 2015 and chose the Nittany Lions over Ohio State and Rutgers among others.

The New Jersey native redshirted in 2015 before bursting onto the scene with 11 appearances, including three starts in 2016.

Last season, Gonzalez started all 13 games and was named first-team All-Big Ten by Pro Football Focus.

Known primarily for his run blocking, the big guy helped pave the way for Saquon Barkley, Trace McSorley and occasionally Miles Sanders.

While he’ll have competition for the spot from both Mike Miranda and C.J. Thorpe, Gonzalez enters the summer as the starter at left guard again and is expected to be a key part of an offensive line that should be a strength for the Nittany Lions for the first time in years,
