We’re down to 91 days- or 13 more Saturday, if you prefer- until the start of the 2018 Penn State Football season.
Jared Odrick was one of Penn State’s top defensive players of the ‘00s, capping off his career as an All-American and Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year in 2009. The fearsome defensive tackle went on to become a first round draft choice, going to the Miami Dolphins with the 28th pick in the 2010 NFL Draft.
He would remain in the state of Florida for the duration of his NFL career, playing five seasons in Miami before heading to Jacksonville in 2015. He finished his career following the 2016 season, with a career total of 22.5 sacks.
Odrick has entered the second act of his career, leaning on his creative side. He made his acting debuet on the HBO series Ballers, and has produced and acted in three film shorts. He has also contributed articles that have appeared in Sports Illustrated and Sporting News. If a biopic of Counting Crows singer Adam Duritz, The Rain King, ever reaches production, Odrick is the obvious choice for the starring role.
