With DaeSean Hamilton and Mike Gesicki both off to the NFL, Juwan Johnson is the next man up with regards to being Trace McSorley’s go-to target. Yes, you know him best for his famous catch, but did you also know he was tied for second on the team last year with Saquon Barkley in total receptions (54, behind only Gesicki’s 57 catches) and was second on the team in receiving yards (701, behind only Hamilton’s 857)?
Given how the Penn State offense is designed to spread the ball around, I won’t go out on a limb in predicting a 1,000+ yard receiving season for Juwan. However, I will be surprised if he doesn’t surpass his reception and yardage totals from last season before he declares himself eligible for the 2019 NFL Draft, which sure enough, he is projected to be a Top 10 pick and the first receiver taken off the board.
Only 84 days until we get to see #84 himself tear it up on the turf!
