“If you want to win, let Boobie spin.”
The watch list for the 2018 Doak Walker Award, given annually since 1990 to the nation’s top running back, was released on Wednesday and for the third year running, a Penn State back was included.
Miles Sanders, the heir apparent to Saquon Barkley, was named among the backs to watch for the coming season.
Sanders, who was a five-star recruit out of Woodland Hills High School in Pittsburgh, showed flashes of what made him so coveted last season. He carried the ball 31 times for 191 yards (6.2 avg.) and two touchdowns.
Much likes Barkley, Sanders has pace to burn and plenty of wiggle and, again similarly to Barkley, he’s bulked up since coming to Penn State and now stands at 5-foot-11, 207 pounds.
Larry Johnson Jr. is the only Nittany Lion to win the award, bringing it home in 2002.
