HIGHLIGHTS

THE TALE

Saleem Wormley picked up a number of Power Five offers after his junior season, but didn’t land one from Penn State until he visited campus on March 24. After leaving Happy Valley that day with an offer in hand, it became clear that Penn State would be tough to beat. There was even some speculation that Wormley was going to pull the trigger during Blue-White weekend, but the four-star Delaware product held off.

Wormley went onto take two officials — one to Notre Dame on June 15, and one to Rutgers on June 22. The Fighting Irish were seen as the biggest threat, but the feeling when Wormley left South Bend was that the Nittany Lions still had the edge. That feeling ended up being true, as Wormley made the call for Penn State earlier this afternoon.

OUTLOOK

Wormley will remind folks of 2017 signee C.J. Thorpe. He’s a little bit on the shorter side for an offensive lineman and will have to drop a few extra pounds, but he has long arms and is abnormally strong at the point of attack. Wormley plays right tackle in high school, but the interior will be his home at the next level, whether that’s guard or even center.

Wormley joins fellow interior lineman Caedan Wallace as the second offensive line commit in the class, giving the Nittany Lions two of the top 15 guards in the country. From here, Penn State will work to address tackle with Jakai Moore, JUCO Anthony Whigan, Walter Rouse, and Zachary Franks as key targets.

Welcome to Penn State, Saleem!
