Saquon’s Getting Paid!
Not that anyone was doubting Saquon Barkley’s commitment to the New York Giants, but the man is now officially being paid a cool $31.2 million over four years, after signing on the dotted line with NYG this past Sunday. Clearly, the Giants are banking on Barkley being the missing piece to their offensive puzzle in helping them try to win another Super Bowl ring before Eli Manning likely retires within the next two to three years. Given how abysmal the Giants running game has been over the past several years, it’s hard not to see marked improvement on this front for them.
Roll Damn Wedding! Geaux Damn Cake!
In what has got to be peak SEC, an LSU fan bride trolled her Alabama fan groom in epic fashion. What appeared to be a normal, innocent-looking white with red “A” Alabama logo frosting on the outside turned out to contain purple and yellow on the inside. Well played, LSU bride, well played.
This Justin Shorter Kid Might Be Pretty Good, Actually
PennLive’s Bob Flounders delves into Justin Shorter and what makes him a potential breakout player as a true freshman. Flounders creatively titled his piece “Summer of Shorter?” which has me hoping that he will do a similar piece on Shorter’s fellow incoming freshman teammate Daniel George and title it “Summer of George?”
Good Luck, Parker!
TribLive has a nice little piece on Parker Cothren’s attempt to make it onto the Steelers’ final roster as a free agent. Here’s to hoping that he lands said roster spot.
ESPN’s Big Ten Preseason Power Rankings Are Out
Penn State is No. 3 on the list, behind only Wisconsin and Ohio State. You could certainly make a case for Michigan State (No. 4) being No. 3, given that they return virtually everybody from last year’s surprise 10-3 season, but one has to think that the Trace McSorley factor was the likely reason for PSU getting the nod.
