Garrett Taylor arrived at Penn State as a top-100 player and the 10th-best cornerback in the nation in 2015. After a redshirt season, Taylor made an impact on special teams in 2016, recovering Juwan Johnson’s blocked punt against Rutgers, and making tackles against Kent State and Ohio State. He was converted from cornerback to safety in 2017, seeing time on both defense and special teams. Taylor recovered a fumble against Rutgers, and made a tackle in eight games. The epitome of a student-athlete, Taylor has also been named Academic All-Big Ten in both 2016 and 2017. As of now, he is expected to start alongside Nick Scott at safety for the Nittany Lions in 2018.
