After being recently brought back to the team earlier this summer, Manny Bowen is once again no longer with the program. Lions247 was the first to report the news, and a Penn State spokesman confirmed Bowen’s departure to Sean Fitz and Co.
Bowen’s reinstatement was announced at Media Day on August 4 after the rising senior linebacker met stipulations throughout the offseason put forth by James Franklin. Bowen, a rising senior linebacker, was expected to compete with Jan Johnson for the starting middle linebacker job.
Bowen leaves Penn State having played in 30 games. The 6-foot-1, 238-pound linebacker was a starter the last two years, posting seasons of 67 tackles and 8.5 TFLs as a sophomore and 51 tackles and 3 TFLs as a junior.
All the best to Bowen in the future.
