Former three-star recruit Brailyn Franklin, a member of the 2017 recruiting class appears to have moved on from Penn State. The former linebacker who was most recently a defensive end with the program was not present on Penn State’s roster that was handed out prior to the program’s annual media day to start off fall camp.

Franklin moving on from the program doesn’t come as a complete surprise as it was widely speculated for sometime that the Virginia native could be moving on. The redshirt freshman added to the speculation on Friday when he tweeted “new moves coming soon.” That being said no official word has come out on why exactly Franklin is moving on from the program, but head coach James Franklin may be able to give insight on the matter at his press conference this afternoon.

From a roster standpoint, Franklin’s departure from the program allowed the Nittany Lions to free up a spot that has allowed once exiled linebacker Manny Bowen to return to the program, another move that has been in the works. Franklin leaving the program shouldn’t have a heavy impact on the defensive line as the redshirt freshman was looking at playing time sparingly at best this upcoming season.
