For College Gameday, it will be their sixth time making the trip to State College with the last time of course being last October for last year’s White Out against Michigan. It will be the 19th time total that Penn State has been featured on College Gameday. The Nittany Lions are 7-11 all time when featured on Gameday.
List of Games PSU Has Hosted (3-2):
- August 28th, 1999: #3 Penn State 41 - #4 Arizona 7
- October 8th, 2005: #16 Penn State 17 - #6 Ohio State 10
- October 27th, 2007: #1 Ohio State 37 - #25 Penn State 17
- September 26th, 2009: Iowa 21 - #4 Penn State 10
- October 21st, 2017: #2 Penn State 42 - #19 Michigan 13
As you can see from above, Gameday coming to town hasn’t always meant victories for the Nittany Lions. The losses in 2007 and 2009 are ones to forget but the three victories including their upset victory over the Buckeyes in 2005 are memorable to say the least.
The Nittany Lions 19th appearance will tie them for the 13th most in Gameday history. For Ohio State, it will be their 42nd time on Gameday, tying them for the most with Alabama. The Buckeyes also have the most times hosted in the shows history with 16.
Win or lose against Ohio State, Penn State may get another chance to be on Gameday this season as they will have games against Michigan, Michigan State, and Wisconsin left on the schedule which could all be viable options for another College Gameday appearance. Each of the last two seasons, the program has been featured on Gameday twice.
