Report: Lamont Wade, Zech McPhearson, and Brandon Polk Enter NCAA Transfer Portal

More transfer!

NCAA Football: Iowa at Penn State Matthew O’Haren-USA TODAY Sports

It appears as though three more Penn State players joined Juwan Johnson and Dae’Lun Darien in the NCAA transfer portal. Cole Cubelic of the SEC Network reported that junior safety Lamont Wade, redshirt junior cornerback Zech McPhearson, and redshirt senior wide receiver Brandon Polk all have entered the transfer portal.

While it’s important to remember that entering the portal does not guarantee a transfer — players can choose to come back to school — it’s fair to say that Wade, McPhearson, and Polk are taking a hard look at playing the 2019 season away from Happy Valley.

The Polk news isn’t surprising. He struggled mightily with drops, and it appeared that he was passed over on the depth chart as the season went along. McPhearson isn’t too much of a surprise either after he saw limited playing time in 2018. Wade is a little more surprising given he was expected to compete for the starting safety spot that Nick Scott occupied in 2018.

BSD will have more as this story develops.
