On a day that has already seen Shareef Miller, Connor McGovern, and Ryan Bates decide to pursue their professional careers early, defensive tackle Kevin Givens announced on Instagram that he was forgoing his senior season for the NFL.
The Altoona native has been a crucial piece on the defensive line for the Nittany Lions since his first playing season in 2016. Givens started six of 14 games in his redshirt freshman year, finishing third in the Big Ten in fumble recoveries and he was named to BTN and ESPN.com’s All-Big Ten Freshman Team. He appeared as both a defensive end and defensive tackle in 2017, highlighted by a four tackle and one sack performance in the Fiesta Bowl. Givens started 11 games this season, finishing his regular season with two sacks against Maryland. His versatility and athleticism will certainly be missed on the defensive line.
Best of luck, Kevin!
