Blessed & Honored: Penn State Gets Last Official Visit From Big-Time OT

When I say big-time, I mean physically too.

Penn State signed three offensive linemen in December, but continue to push for more. We already know that the Nittany Lions will be hosting Ohio State commit Doug Nester this weekend, but Nester won’t be the lone highly-touted lineman on campus as three-star Indiana OT Dawand Jones announced that his last official visit will be at Penn State.

While Jones is just a three-star prospect, he’s blown up in recent months, landing offers from USC, Michigan, Ohio State, Texas, Florida, and Penn State all since the beginning of the November. One quick look at Jones and it’s easy to see why — there just aren’t that many 6-foot-8, 360-pound prospects that move the way he does.

The Buckeyes appear to be the leader for Jones’ services, owning nine of the 10 247Sports Crystal Ball predictions. But hey, Penn State will get its shot on Sunday.

While the 247Sports Composite rankings (combination of all three recruiting services) get the large majority of the shine, 247 does have its own ranking system, and on Tuesday, it bumped Lance Dixon up from the No. 49 to the No. 13 player in the country, giving him his fifth star in the process.

Dixon joins fellow linebacker Brandon Smith (who was ranked one spot ahead at No. 12) as a five-star Penn State commit. Led by two five-stars, the Nittany Lions also received a substantial bump in 247’s team rankings (note: not 247’s Composite team rankings), moving all the way up to the No. 4 class in the country.
