Why can’t this football season slow down??

Somehow, some way, we’re officially halfway through the season. Hard to believe! And yet, we must soldier on. Let’s see what we’ve got for week eight! I’ll be making weekly picks straight up, so read on, make your own picks, and see if you know better than me!

#4 Ohio State (6-0, 3-0 Big Ten) at Northwestern (1-4, 0-3)

Evanston, IL

Friday, October 18th, 8:30 PM

Line: OSU -28

What a way to kick off a weekend of college football! On one side, you get a legitimate playoff contender, clicking in all facets of play. On the other side, you have Northwestern. This... is going to get ugly with a quickness.

Ohio State 49, Northwestern 10

#6 Wisconsin (6-0, 3-0) at Illinois (2-4, 0-3)

Champaign, IL

Saturday, October 19th, 12:00 PM

Line: WIS -31

Oof, another painful game. Wisconsin is on a collision course with OSU in a few weeks, in a possible (probable?) preview of the Big Ten title game. This will also be ugly.

Wisconsin 49, Illinois 10

Purdue (2-4, 1-2) at #23 Iowa (4-2, 1-2)

Iowa City, IA

Saturday, October 19th, 12:00 PM

Line: IOWA -17

Is it just me or does this line seem a bit off? Sure it’s at Kinnick, and Iowa is a solid defensive team. But 17 points? That’s a lot. I’ll take Iowa to win, but not to cover I think.

Iowa 28, Purdue 14

#20 Minnesota (6-0, 3-0) at Rutgers (1-5, 0-4)

Piscataway, NJ

Saturday, October 19th, 3:30 PM

Line: MINN -28.5

Seriously what is with the ugly games this week? Minnesota is no Ohio State or Wisconsin, but Rutgers would have issues with some high school teams. Yowza.

Minnesota 42, Rutgers 7

Indiana (4-2, 1-2) at Maryland (3-3, 1-2)

College Park, MD

Saturday, October 19th, 3:30 PM

Line: IND -5.5

Oh what fun, we have this year’s Team Chaos against yesteryear’s Team Chaos. Maryland has been all over the map with its play this year, making it hard to peg what exactly you’re going to get in any given week. Strangely, Indiana has been pretty consistent - nothing going to blow you away on either side, but they’ve beaten whom they were supposed to, and lost to whom they were supposed to. I guess in that case, give me Indiana?

Indian 28, Maryland 24

Bye Week

Michigan State (4-3, 2-2), Nebraska (4-3, 2-2)

What a perfect time for Michigan State to get a bye week, right after being thrashed by Wisconsin. Time to rest, lick their wounds, and prepare for... oh c’mon man! Nebraska meanwhile is gonna need to right their ship if they want to complete the trek to bowl eligibility.

If it weren’t for Maryland inheriting the mantle of Team Chaos, I’d have had another perfect week under my belt. Ah well. Looking good overall!

Week 7: 4-1

Season: 45-5

So, who ya got in week eight?
