Miami at Pitt
Is Pitt... kind of good?? The Panthers are riding a four-game streak since losing to Penn State in week three. Thanks to the ACC being so outright terrible, they have five winnable games the rest of the way. If they are able to win them all, Pitt is looking at an improbable 10-win season and a chance to take down Clemson in the ACC Championship Game. Miami is coming off a loss to a poor Georgia Tech squad, continuing its downfall that began when they were upset by Pitt in the 2017 regular season finale.
Prediction: Pitt-27, Miami-20
(#13)Wisconsin at (#3)Ohio State
I’m still baffled by Wisconsin’s loss last week to Illinois. Are they just not as good as we thought? Did they just play one horrendous game? Were they just trying to get past the Illini to be fully prepared for this game? The loss obviously took much of the luster off this game, but at least we’ll have answers about both teams by the time Penn State kicks off at 3:30. Ohio State certainly looks like a strong national championship contender without many weaknesses to find, but we’ll see if that holds up as they face one of the nation’s best defenses and run games on Saturday.
Prediction: Ohio State-31, Wisconsin-21
(#8)Notre Dame at (#19)Michigan
7:30 p.m., ABC
After coming up short in last week’s White Out, Michigan now has to take on a Notre Dame squad that is incredibly similar to Penn State. It won’t be easy, but perhaps Michigan can build off its strong second half against the Nittany Lions. Expect a similar offensive attack where they neutralize the speed of the Irish defense by getting the ball out of Shea Patterson’s hands quickly. Michigan may not be living up to the hype, but have plenty of overall talent and will be fighting for its pride for a huge win in the Big House.
Prediction: Notre Dame-24, Michigan-21
Washington State at (#11)Oregon
10:30 p.m., ESPN
Mike Leach sure knows how to get after the Ducks, with Washington State winning the last four games of this series. They’ll need to pull off a sizable upset this time around as Oregon is riding a six-game winning streak and looking to re-enter the playoff conversation. Washington State has disappointed this season, losing three of the past four weeks. But something tells me Leach has some tricks up his sleeve, and probably also some Trix up his sleeve for some reason, and Washington State will foil the Ducks once again. Either way, it’s an excuse not to end your College Football Saturday until the wee hours of the morning.
Prediction: Washington State-35, Oregon-34
