Big Ten Preview - Week 12

The Big Ten West race will take a turn this weekend

Jesse Johnson-USA TODAY Sports

Heading into the final quarter of the season, the East and West races are still up in the air. The West race will get a bit clearer this weekend, setting up some fireworks down the stretch. Let’s see what week 12 brings us! I’ll be making weekly picks straight up, so read on, make your own picks, and see if you know better than me!

#14 Wisconsin (7-2, 4-2 Big Ten) at Nebraska (4-5, 2-4)

Lincoln, NE

Saturday, November 16th, 12:00 PM

Line: WIS -14.5

In yet another head-scratcher, this line just seems way too low to me. I’d love for Nebraska to play spoiler, but I am having a hard time seeing it. Wisconsin wins, setting up a big showdown with Minnesota for West supremacy.

Wisconsin 35, Nebraska 14

Michigan State (4-5, 2-4) at #15 Michigan (7-2, 4-2)

Ann Arbor, MI

Saturday, November 16th, 12:00 PM

Line: MICH -13.5

Earlier in the year I would have said that a two-touchdown line would be about right for this game, but right now the Spartans are just reeling. I’m having difficulty envisioning Sparty hanging with the Wolverines for very long.

Michigan 38, Michigan State 17

UMass (1-9) at Northwestern (1-8)

Evanston, IL

Saturday, November 16th, 12:00 PM

Line: NW -39

Did anyone think that these two teams would have a combined two wins between them when looking at the football calendar for 2019? Yeah, me either. I think Northwestern will win this one, as UMass is horribad, but 39 points honestly seems like too many.

Northwestern 35, UMass 10

#2 Ohio State (9-0, 6-0) at Rutgers (2-7, 0-6)

Piscataway, NJ

Saturday, November 16th, 3:30 PM

Line: OSU -52

Oh my god this game is going to be utterly horrific.

Ohio State 65, Rutgers 3

#8 Minnesota (9-0, 6-0) at #20 Iowa (6-3, 3-3)

Iowa City, IA

Saturday, November 16th, 4:00 PM

Line: IOWA -2.5

Minnesota currently controls its own destiny in the conference and for the playoffs. If the Gophers can get past Iowa, they could lock up the West title before they even play Wisconsin. But first thing’s first, a tough game against Iowa. If Goldy can avoid the letdown here, I think they’re good enough to get the win.

Minnesota 27, Iowa 21

Bye Week

Illinois (6-4, 4-3), Purdue (4-6, 3-4), Maryland (3-8, 1-6)

Here’s hoping that the roll Illinois is on can continue after their second bye week. Purdue is still hoping to make a bowl, while Maryland is honestly just trying to get to the end of hte season without too many injuries.

The only game I got wrong last week was Michigan State losing to Illinois, which, I’m always down for some lolSparty moments. A good game to get wrong, I say!

Week 11: 3-1

Season: 60-10

So, who ya got in week 12?
