Oh Goodbye: Three-Star DB Elijah Gaines Decommits from Penn State

Penn State’s 2020 recruiting class is back down to 27 commits today as three-star defensive back Elijah Gaines announced his decommitment from the Nittany Lions.

Gaines officially visited Penn State on September 14, and then made his commitment to the Nittany Lions official just a couple weeks later on September 27. He was the third safety in the class, joining four-star Enzo Jennings and three-star JUCO Ji’Ayir Brown.

Obviously, it’s tough to deem much of anything from Gaines’ tweet, but the phrasing of “due to unfortunate circumstances” definitely raises an eyebrow.
