A total of seven Penn State players have been invited to the NFL Combine, which takes place in Indianapolis’ Lucas Oil Stadium, where each contributed to the Nittany Lions 2016 Big Ten Championship victory against Wisconsin.
Receiving invites are quarterback Trace McSorley, cornerback Amani Oruwariye, running back Miles Sanders, offensive tackle Ryan Bates, center/guard Connor McGovern, defensive tackle Kevin Givens and defensive end Shareef Miller. Of the seven invitees, McSorley and Oruwariye are the only ones with no eligibility remaining at Penn State.
These seven will look to replicate several spectacular performances by Penn Staters at the 2018 NFL Combine. Troy Apke, Saquon Barkley and Mike Gesicki finished took the top three overall SPARQ score results. The performance especially helped Apke, as he went from a relative unknown to flying up draft boards, eventually being selected in the fourth round by Washington.
Barkley was the second overall pick by the New York Giants, and went on to win the NFL’s Offensive Rookie of the Year Award. Gesicki was a second round pick by Miami, and finished his rookie season with 22 receptions for 202 yards.
The NFL Combine will take place Feb. 26 through March 4, with segments televised on the NFL Network.
Best of luck to all seven Nittany Lions as they chase their NFL dreams!
