BSD Celebration @ Big Ten Tourney

For all you BSD basketbros and broettes, this has been quite the up-and-down season for our Nittany Lions. Per usual, just when you were ready to completely give up on them, they turned things around and at least made the games fun to watch. Now, headed into the Big Ten Tournament, the men in pink and black (please, Pat, please) will carry a 7-3 B1G record since the beginning of February. Not too shabby.

Speaking of the B1G BTT, as some of us have discussed in the comments, it'd be great if the BSD faithful could meet up before or after PSU's game(s) for some friendly conversation and (hopefully) some celebration. So, I figured I'd start this FanPost as a place for folks to coordinate any plans to meet up, as well as to share information about the games and related events themselves.

For my part, I have already purchased tickets for Penn State's initial game against the eventual #7 seed, as well as a potential next-round game on Friday (don't worry, I'm not jinxing us; Michigan is playing in the same session, and my wife wants to go). Here is the info for those games:

  • Game 5: PSU v. Minn/OSU, 6 p.m., Thursday, 3/14. Tickets as low as $7 on SeatGeek.
  • Game 9: Purdue v. PSU/Minn/OSU, 6 p.m., Friday, 3/15. Ticket pricing increasing, ~$60 at last check.

Thankfully, the B1G has made things easy for us to remember: 6 p.m. on both Thursday and (hopefully) Friday. If you choose to buy tickets for that second game, you likely won't be disappointed even if PSU doesn't make it: you'll get to watch both Purdue and Michigan for the price of one ticket. Should be some excellent basketball. Fair warning, though: there are a ton of Purdue and (to an even greater extent) Michigan fans in the Chicago area, and the latter are particularly faithful in supporting the basketball team. So don't expect those ticket prices to go down. If you are planning on making the trip to Chicagoland, you probably should just go ahead and buy both rounds of tickets now. Also, FWIW, there are all-session passes now available for $190, down from about $220 earlier this week. If you plan on going to games from Thursday-Sunday (or even Wednesday, as it is open seating), it's actually a pretty good deal.

Please let me know in the comments if anyone is interested in meeting up. Should be a lot of fun! With any luck, we might even get to meet the great Deivis Zemgulis himself.
