Pat Chambers’ 2019 recruiting class of four is now down to three as three-star forward Justin McKoy announced that he asked and was released from his Penn State Letter of Intent.

The Nittany Lions were oversigned for the 2019-2020 season by one scholarship player, but it appears this isn’t Penn State pushing McKoy out of the class, as the 6-foot-8, 225-pound forward was offered by NC State earlier today. Not to assume McKoy will end up there, but being that he’s a North Carolina native, it certainly wouldn’t be a surprise to see McKoy in Raleigh next year.
As for Penn State, this leaves the Nittany Lions right at the 13-player scholarship limit with SF Seth Lundy, C Abdou Tsimbila, and SF Patrick Kelly coming in. It remains to be seen what happens with Lamar Stevens and Mike Watkins, but if both do decide to return to Happy Valley for their final seasons, then at the very least the Nittany Lions have the room now.
