The Penn State wrestling room got a little bit deeper on Thursday.
Former Lehigh Mountainhawk Matt Parker announced that he was joining the Nittany Lions via transfer.
It has been one crazy year but I’m very excited to announce that I am going to be transferring to Penn State to finish out my wrestling career. Couldn’t more thankful for the opportunity. #weare pic.twitter.com/0xw6EhoUnu— Matt parker (@thatdudemattyp) April 18, 2019
Parker, a Pennsylvania native, was a three-time state placer and a consensus top-100 recruit in the class of 2017.
He is also the younger brother of Lehigh All-American Scott Parker.
In his true freshman season in 2017-18, Parker went 12-2 at 125 pounds with first-place finishes at the Princeton Open, Wilkes Open and East Stroudsburg Open.
Parker missed the entirety of the 2018-19 season while recovering from injury. Should he get healthy, he will enter the fray at 125 next season with both Devin Schnupp and Brody Teske competing for the starting spot.
