Since nobody on the current roster is rocking the number 76, we’re digging into the vault to honor one Mr. Donovan Smith. Smith, as you may recall, was a key member of the offensive line from 2012-2014, during some of the most tumultuous times in Penn State football history.
As a Class of 2011 recruit, Donovan was part of the class that experienced three different head coaches (not counting acting stints from Tom Bradley and Larry Johnson) during their time in Happy Valley. He elected to forego his final year of eligibility and enter the 2015 NFL Draft, where he was selected in the second round by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, where he has solidified himself as a key starter on the offensive line. So much so, that he recently signed a three-year extension worth $41 million to remain an anchor for the Bucs’ O-line.
Only 76 days until the season opener!
