Oh, Hello: Three-Star JUCO DB Ji’Ayir Brown Commits to Penn State

Lackawanna C.C. to Penn State!

Height/Weight: 6-foot, 203 pounds
Hometown/High School: Trenton, NJ (Lackawanna C.C.)
Ranking: ★★★ (87 rating according to 247Sports)
Notable Offers: Penn State and Kent State

Like his JUCO teammate Norval Black, Brown attended one of Penn State’s summer camps and dominated, walking away from Happy Valley with an offer. While Brown didn’t commit immediately, it wasn’t a long wait for Brown as he made the trip back to State College on Friday to make the call for the Nittany Lions in person to James Franklin.

Again, like his teammate Norval Black, Brown is definitely under-the-radar. His lone offer is from Kent State, and while I love some MACtion, that isn’t exactly the type of school Penn State is used to recruiting against. But at least to my eye, Brown looks like a definite player — I’m quite surprised that he doesn’t have more offers. He has really good size at 6-foot, 203 pounds, and playing cornerback for Lackawanna, shows nice instincts, awareness, and the ability to play the ball. I think given his size and what looks like just average speed for a cornerback, he might be better suited for safety, but the versatility is there for either position which is always a welcomed asset.
