As we slog our way through the summer, we’re left with growing anticipation for the 2019 season. Many pundits believe this is a rebuilding year for the Lions, with key losses at quarterback, running back, both lines, and in the secondary. As such, most have Penn State somewhere around 9 wins for the second straight year.
Suppose you could bring someone back from the past 5 years to help bolster this Nittany Lions squad - maybe some help at defensive tackle with Austin Johnson, or the steady hands of Allen Robinson in the receiving corps.
Which player from the past 5 years would you add to this team?
And before we get into it, let’s just say that both Saquon Barkley and Trace McSorley are off the table. Either of them, in their prime, would be welcome additions to the team, and I’d rather not have a comment thread of just one to two players.
Personally, I feel most concerned about our secondary, particularly our safeties. That’s not to say that I don’t have faith in whoever wins the starting gig, but having a safe bet back there would make me feel a lot better. With that in mind, I’d bring back Marcus Allen. Not only was he a runaway truck heading downhill in the run game, but he also brought some fiery, emotional leadership to the team. Talent aside, it has often felt like the team has been missing some swagger - Allen would bring that in spades.
So, who would you bring back?
