Yesterday, we focused on a recent record-breaking Penn State tight end. Today, our subject is a current tight end who is on pace to become a legend by the time he plays his final game in the blue and white.
Pat Freiermuth exceeded expectations by a country mile as a true freshman in 2018. Playing well beyond his years, Freiermuth established himself as one of the most reliable targets for Trace McSorley, finishing the season with 26 catches for 368 yards and eight touchdowns. He finished second on the team in receptions behind KJ Hamler, while leading the team in touchdown catches.
With at least another two seasons in Happy Valley, the sky is truly the limit for Freiermuth. The true sophomore, who is a skilled blocker in addition to his abilities as a passcatcher, could be an All-American candidate and eventually hear his name called in the first round of the NFL Draft. While we patiently await the start of the upcoming season, Freiermuth is a very big reason why Nittany Lion fans should be excited about what’s to come in 87 more days.
