Only Hakeem Beamon Until Penn State Football

Nearer and nearer we get to the first snap.

We’re now just 51 days away from Penn State football and the first game of the year against Idaho on August 31 in Beaver Stadium.

That number is now worn by true freshman Hakeem Beamon.

Beamon, a defensive end from Virginia, was a four-star recruit out of Manchester High. Penn State lists him on the roster at 6-foot-3, 259 pounds so there’s a pretty good chance he moves inside at some point to play defensive tackle.

While in high school, he helped guide his team to a 15-0 record and its first ever state championship as a senior. Beamon was also selected to compete in Nike’s The Opening Finals, a collection of the top recruits in the nation.

He recorded 44 tackles, including 16 tackles for loss and 5.5 sacks, and five passes defended as a senior and was selected Virginia’s 6A Defensive Player of the Year.
