Only Max Chizmar until Penn State Football

Penn State Football is slowly getting closer and closer. Today officially marks the halfway mark of our countdown journey as there’s just 50 days until Penn State begins their 2019 journey against Idaho on August 31.

Today’s featured player is a walk-on from Mars, Pennsylvania. Though it would be cool if he was actually from Mars. But that player is redshirt sophomore linebacker Max Chizmar.

Chizmar was a three-time letter winner in high school for football while playing for the Fighting Planets (what a name). He played both linebacker and running back in high school but linebacker would be his calling in college.

For the last two seasons, Chizmar has spent his time as a member of the scout team but did appear in two games this past season against Kent State and Maryland. He also was one of three players to earn the Scout Team Defensive Player of the Year award for his work last season. He also got it done in the classroom, earning his way to an All-Big Ten Academic team selection.

In 2019, Chizmar will once again be part of the scout team but he should also be given a few more opportunities on the field in the right situations.
