Redshirt sophomore C.J. Holmes came to Notre Dame as a much-ballyhooed athlete, ranking as a consensus top 300 player nationally, and the number two player in the state of Connecticut. Holmes played in eight games in his first season, totaling 32 yards and two tackles. Following his freshman year, he made the decision to transfer to the Nittany Lions and sat out the 2018 season.
In 2019, Holmes has made the switch to safety, and his athleticism will be key in providing depth in the secondary behind Garrett Taylor and Lamont Wade. He’ll provide value to what should be an outstanding Nittany Lions secondary this fall, and beyond.
