Awards watch list season continues, as KJ Hamler is the latest Nittany Lion to receive preseason accolades. Hamler was included on the Biletnikoff Award Watch List, given annually to the nation’s best receiver. It’s been an eventful week for Hamler, as we was also included on the watch list for the Maxwell Award, which goes to the best overall player in college football. If that wasn’t enough, Hamler was named at #3 in BSD’s preseaon top 10 player countdown.
Hamler’s inclusion on the Biletnikoff Award Watch List should come as no surprise. As a redshirt freshman, Hamler quickly set himself apart as one of the nation’s most dangerous playmakers. In his first year of eligibility, he led the Nittany Lions in receptions, receiving yards, and finished only behind tight end Pat Freiermuth in touchdown catches.
Hamler was one of 50 passcatchers on the Biletnikoff Award Watch List, which also includes Ohio State’s K.J. Hill, Purdue’s Rondale Moore and Nebraska’s JD Speilman.
Best of luck to Hamler, and here’s hoping he collects some hardware this December once he returns from Indianapolis.
