Every Penn State player is on every watch list for every award.
Or, so it might seem thus far. The absurdity that is watch list season is in full swing. Last week we saw KJ Hamler, Micah Parsons and Yetur Gross-Matos recognized. Now it’s the turn of three more Nittany Lions to be recognized, while Parsons popped back up again.
The sophomore linebacker joined senior Cam Brown on the preseason watch list for the Butkus Award given annually to the nation’s best linebacker. And, on an additionally fun note, Penn State commit Curtis Jacobs was named to watch list for the high school version of the award.

We turn to the other side of the ball to find that redshirt junior Michal Menet has been added to watch list to the Rimington Award which is given to the nation’s top center. Menet has been praised by his teammates all offseason for the strides he made and could well be ready to show why he was an elite recruit in the class of 2016.

Lastly, after a breakout campaign in 2018 as a true freshman, Pat Freiermuth unsurprisingly found his way onto the list for the Mackey Award for the country’s top tight end. Freiermuth is part of a tight end group with Nick Bowers and Zack Kuntz that could prove to be one of the best in the nation.
