Defensive tackle Robert Windsor has joined several of his teammates in being named to an awards watch list. Windsor was recently mentioned on the Outland Trophy watch list, which is given annually to the nation’s top interior linemen on either offense or defense. He was also included on the watch list for the Bronko Nagurski Trophy, which goes to the nation’s best overall defensive player regardless of position. He was joined by teammates Micah Parsons and Yetur Gross-Matos.

If either three take home the Bronko Nagurski Trophy in December, it will be a first for the Penn State program. The only Nittany Lion to receive the Outland Trophy was Mike Reid in 1969. I can’t make you love the fact that many deserving Penn State players were passed over for these two awards during the past several decades.

Windsor had a breakout season as a junior in 2018. After being a regular member of the rotation as a freshman and sophomore, Windsor excelled with an increased role. He finished the season with 38 tackles, 7.5 sacks, 10 TFLs and a forced fumble.

The Fond Du Lac, Wisconsin native will play a vital role in 2018 as the leader of the defensive tackle position as an experienced senior.
