PREVIEWING LASCH BASH WEEKEND
On Saturday, James Franklin and his staff will welcome a slew of visitors for the yearly Lasch Bash BBQ recruiting event. Additionally, the staff will hold their final recruiting camp of the summer on Friday night.
One major Penn State target that will be in town is tight end Theo Johnson.
The Canadian native is arguably the best tight end in the 2020 cycle, and Penn State is among his leaders entering the weekend. The Nittany Lions find themselves battling Iowa, Georgia, and Michigan for Johnson’s services. After a strong showing at The Opening finals earlier this month, Johnson received a huge ratings boost and is now a top 100 player nationally, according to 247Sports. He is also committed to play in the Under Armour All-American Game.
The Nittany Lions will also be welcoming most of their 2020 commits to campus this weekend, that includes offensive lineman Nick Dawkins. The Parkland (PA) native has become one of the best peer recruiters in the class, and that has spread to Johnson on Twitter.
Speaking of offensive linemen, R.J. Adams will also be in town.
Penn State this weekend ‼️— Rj Adams ✌ (@exclusivejaayy) July 25, 2019
This will be a big visit for the Nittany Lions commit. Since he last visited Penn State in April, Adams has visited multiple other schools, so any time Penn State can get him on campus it is a plus.
According to Blue White Illustrate, the Nittany Lions will also host a pair of their top 2022 targets this weekend — in-state prospect Nicholas Singleton will be on campus, as will Virginia running back Tevin White.
Singleton has been to campus multiple times this summer, which bodes well for the Nittany Lions as that he is shaping up to be one of the top in-state prospects for the 2022 cycle. Meanwhile White, like Singleton, has already been to campus multiple times. White attends North Stafford High School in Virginia, the same school as Devyn Ford and Nana Asiedu.
